Spend some quality time together remembering our Grandparents, Great Grandparents, and the many brave people, who were lost in World War 1. Saturday 11th November at 11am marks the day that World War 1 ended in 1918.
Some quiet time making a picture is a peaceful and thought provoking way to do this. Creative activities can create a real sense of peace and relaxation.
Here are some ideas to help you create a poppy picture. You could even make a field full of poppies.
- We used red paper cake cases to make the flower head by flattening it out and sticking it to a sheet of thin white card.
- We stuck a variety of different shaped and sized buttons in the centre of the flower to create the poppy seeds.
- You can use a green pipe-cleaner, green paint or a green felt tip to make the stem of the poppy.
- Add footprint leaves and petals to your flowers by paiting a thin layer of paint onto your foot and then stamping onto the card. We recommend using a sponge dabber to apply the paint so that you don't see brush strokes. Less is more; A thin layer of paint will give you a more detailed print. Too much paint can cause smudging and it will clump together more.
After remembrance day, you could stick on the poppy that you wore this year as part of your rembrance day keepsake.
