To make this beautiful night sky inspired mobile, you will need:
- A cardboard box from your recycling
- A pencil to draw a moon and stars shapes with. Alternatively, download the picture of the moon and stars templates below and print them off to trace around.
- Scissors (Use with close supervision from a grown-up)
- String or wool
- A stick (A great excuse to get outside for an Autumn walk)
Ideas:
1.) Open up and flatten out your cardboard box
2.) Draw the outline of a moon and stars. You can cut out your moon and stars templates to draw around.
3.) Paint the box by dipping a large brush or sponge into your paint and dabbing it onto the box. Cut the sponge into a circle to create a lovely circular moon surface. Do you have any spare items around the house that you could also use to create different patterns? How about dipping bottle lids from your recycling into paint and printing with them?
4.) Once the paint has dried, carefully cut out the shapes.
5.) Pierce a hole into the top of your moon and stars using a pencil. Alternatively use a hole punch. (Take care) Tie threads of string to your moon and stars. Tie the loose ends to your stick. You can then hang yourstick from a high place so that your moon and stars can dangle and shine.
A sensory craft keepsake to make for babies
This is also a relaxing activity for parents to make for their babies as they will enjoy looking at the mobile as a sensory experience. Try sticking on some mirror card so that baby can look at reflections too. Sticking photos into the stars will make a lovely keepsake and bedroom decoration.
